Seniors
A
Nu You is committed to helping our clients reach their health
and fitness goals in a safe and effective manner using the
latest strength training, core and all related exercise
techniques.
Seniors who engage in regular non-vigorous physical activity
have an increased physical capacity, decreased body fat,
increased lean body tissue, increased bone density and lower
rates of coronal artery disease (CAD), hypertension, and
cancer. Increased physical activity is also associated with
greater mobility. (According to the American Academy of
sport medicine)
Our purpose at A New U is to:
- give
an exercise prescription tailored specifically to
meet the need of our senior client with slow and
safe progressive activity thus enhancing overall
fitness.
- increase
sense of well being with regular exercise.
- Regulate
strength training, which has demonstrated an increase
in muscle growth with moderate hypertrophy and an
increase in bone density.
|
In
addition to expending energy and improving health, some
Psychological benefits include:
- enhance
self esteem
- increased motivation
- a decrease anxiety
- and a buffer against stress. (A common trigger for
overeating).

Research
has found that modest physical activity and modest weight
loss can both have significant health benefits. Modest exercise
also predicts weight loss. More over, even small weight
losses can normalize blood pressure among some obese hyper-extensive
subjects, and improve control among obese Type II Diabetes.
|
1. Overweight persons are rarely among rank of the physically
active.
2. People in weight loss programs who maintain their
loss of weight are more likely to exercise.
3. Exercise facilitates long term weight loss. Exercise
has been prescribed as a component of weight control
programs for years. Compelling reasons exist that emphasize
physical activity as the most important factor of weight
loss.
A
regular exercise program can:
- expend
energy and may counter the metabolic decline
produced by dieting.
- suppress appetite and minimize loss of lean
body mass
- counteract
the ill effect of obesity and psychological
functioning.
- protects lean body mass more than endurance
activities.
